Heartland of Hillsboro and Heartland Home Health & Hospice are leading a 6 week workshop at the Center about how to manage chronic diseases such as as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease or other life-ling conditions. The classes are free and materials are included.

The Highland County Health Department Care-a-Van is in the Center parking lot on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 9:00am to noon.
Assessment / Screening
- Cholesterol Level – $10.00 fee
- Lipid Profile – $30.00 fee – Requires a 12 hour fasting (no food or drink)
- Diabetes Screening – Requires a 2 hour fasting (no food or drink)
- Tuberculosis Screening – $15.00 fee (TB skin test)
- PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) – $30.00 fee

Genesis will be at the Center the last Friday of every month from 11:00am to noon providing blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks and heart rate checks.
Dawna Joe Kiesling, of the Highland County Extension Office, will be at the Center every 3rd Tuesday of the Month at 11:30am to discuss USDA basic food guidelines, delicious and healthy recipes, helpful facts and more!
Fatima Even of Ohio Valley Manor Home Health has been leading the Tai Chi class at the Center every Tuesday at 10:00am and does a wonderful job. Tai Chi is recommended by the Arthritis Foundation and helps build balance which aids in fall prevention. It is a gentle practice that is easy on your joints and promotes relaxation and pain management. Fatima works with the class as a whole and each individual if needed to ensure maximum results.
Heather of the Laurels of Hillsboro is providing exercise classes at the center every Thursday at 9:00am. The class will focus on basic aerobic conditioning and will encourage good physical health. Heather keeps the class upbeat and everyone is encouraged to stop by and see what the class all entails. Burn calories and stay in shape! A chair alternate routine is available.
Sharon Fulkerson, of Hospice and Hope, has been offering a Yoga Stretch class at the center. The class is every Monday at 1:30pm. Sharon has had great success with the class. “The class is a very positive and relaxing atmosphere and no to mention fun.” Sharon recently introduced stretch bands to the class routine and continues to add simple but yet very beneficial moves to promote health and well-being. “Everyone in the class is saying we hope to keep this up. They truly enjoy it.”
The health benefits of yoga enable you to develop your flexibility, strength, and balance. Yoga may increase relaxation and reduce stress. A chair alternative routine is provided. Wear clothes that allow you to move freely.
